To outsiders, Moscow is an enigma.
On the shores of the Moskva River stands the Kremlin, built by Italian architects and considered by some to be the eighth wonder of the world. It is an awesome structure, a fortress, symbolizing the country's reluctance to welcome visitors. Yet, once inside, it radiates warmth from three opulent cathedrals and their remarkable collections of frescos, paintings and sculptures.
