Altun Ha, one of four main ruin sites in Belize, is 30 miles north of Belize City. Within the central portion of the site there are more than 275 structures. The city covered about two square miles and contains almost 300 unexcavated mounds. There are five main temples at Altun Ha, four honoring the main forces of nature: the sun, rain, wind and moon. The fifth is the Temple of the Green Tomb.

This is a Mayan city. Altun Ha takes its name from the ancient plastered reservoir built near the city.
