San José del Cabo has the taste of forbidden fruit, as delicious as a siesta stolen from the greedy clutches of an overly busy day. It’s a pleasure that’s all the more satisfying because of its improbability.
In the booming resort-opolis of Los Cabos (“The Capes”) at the southern tip of Baja California, San José alone among its flashier neighbors hasn’t gone Holly-Mex. Not that modern conveniences are lacking. There are luxury hotels, international dining, artful boutiques, tennis, a golf course and all that goes with these quintessential vacation-haven trappings.
