When thinking of Alberta, Edmonton and Calgary spring to mind. Yet in spite of the importance of its urban centers, Alberta still has its roots in the countryside.
Edmonton is the capital of Alberta, and is known as the "Gateway to Canada's North." It is the cultural center of northern Alberta and has hosted the Commonwealth and University Games. Edmonton has many attractions, most notably West Edmonton Mall, the world's largest shopping and entertainment complex.
